Indian Businessman Allegedly Kidnapped and Beaten by His Own Son in Pattaya

Pattaya —

An Indian businessman in Pattaya said he was kidnapped and physically assaulted by a group of men led by his own son on Thursday, April 20th.

At 10 PM yesterday, Pattaya Police along with Sawang Boriboon rescuers responded to an assault report of an Indian man on Central Pattaya Road.

The victim, 53-year-old Mr. Sanjay G., was found lying on the pavement in front of an unknown store. He appeared to be in a state of shock, with tears streaming down his face, and had visible bruises on various parts of his body, so the rescue team quickly took him to a local hospital for an x-ray and a head concussion check.

Pattaya Police interviewed Ms. Arocha Chaichana, 58, who was present at the scene and is the girlfriend of Mr. Sanjay’s friend. She said the victim is the owner of a Pattaya restaurant, whose name was withheld pending a further investigation of the situation. Sanjay called her boyfriend last night stating he needed help after he was kidnapped by a group including his “son” and an unidentified Thai woman and a man. It’s unclear if the man referred to as his son is biological or not, law enforcement added.

Ms. Arocha said Mr. Sanjay was forcefully taken into a white MG sedan from his restaurant located near Soi 7 Pattaya Second Road and driven to Naklua. During the journey, he was reportedly stomped and beaten by the suspects before he ultimately decided to leap from the car for his life.

The victim then called for help from Ms. Arocha’s boyfriend, whose name was also withheld by law enforcement.

He is currently under close medical attention. Pattaya Police are gathering evidence including CCTV recordings to track down and arrest the suspects. They have yet to identify any of the kidnappers, however.

Pattaya police do not have a clear motive behind the crime yet but suspect it could be related to a business or personal dispute.
