FM Mahmud advocates swift FTA initiation with Thailand 

During a business meeting in Bangkok, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud underscored the significance of a potential Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Bangladesh and Thailand for enhancing bilateral trade and addressing trade deficits.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official visit to Thailand, was arranged by the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok, according to a report by UNB agency.

In his speech, Mahmud called upon the Thai private sector to leverage the diverse government incentives available for business and investment, which would contribute to Bangladesh’s economic development and prosperity.

He stressed the importance of an early commencement of the FTA, mentioning that the recent signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) marked the initiation of negotiations.
