Rude entitled unhelpful expats

Hello, I have a serious question why are the ex pats in Chiang Mai so hateful and aggressive to new people in this beautiful city. I got abused told I didn’t see the real Thailand because I stayed in Nimman, told I was not new age, not hippy or alternative enough. Got called the C word by one very viscous ex pat woman who is supposedly a counsellor, asked advice about hiking then I got more Messages attacking and belittling me. I found it a very unfriendly place. The cafes were full of digital nomads.
