What town to stay in?

I’ll be in Phuket for 3 days/2 nights with a friend of mine. We plan to do two days of island/bay tours during the day, maybe party one or two nights.

We’d like to avoid staying in super touristy and scammy areas. Looking for somewhere chill with good food and relatively easy to get to islands tours (are these easily accessible from most towns?) Definitely want to be able to get some drinks at night and not be somewhere totally dead, but probably won’t go crazy most nights. We are more bar/pub people rather than club people.

Any suggestions on what part of the island to stay on? I’m guessing Patong is not for us lol, but wondering where else I should look into!
