Medical Disclosure

Throwaway account as I am not sure whether what I am asking is normal or if legal?

So I have health insurance with Pacific Cross and they are together with Med-Sure Services in Thailand. I’ve been in and out of Bangkok Hospitals for an autoimmune disorder (diagnosed a year after I got my health insurance with no prior diagnosis before insurance) that I have been covering with Pacific Cross.

Med-Sure has emailed me asking me to sign a form for ‘Power of Attorney and Consent for Medical History Disclosure’ so that they can check my claims and medical history at the hospitals I’ve visited.

Now since this is my first ever health insurance, I’m wondering if this is normal for them to ask? Do I just allow them to get a hold of my entire medical history or can I limit what they can see? I haven’t done any false claims or such but I am wary of health insurance companies in general because of the negative stories I’ve heard and I’m wondering if they can use anything against me and my claims. If yes, what precautions can I take to help myself?

I might be worrying for nothing but my autoimmune disease expenses isn’t exactly cheap and if they force me to pay those claims back, I don’t have the money to do so… Any advice is greatly appreciated!
