Busanan settles for second at Swiss Open

Busanan Ongbamrungphan missed out on a chance to win her second title of the year after losing to Pusarla V Sindhu in the final of the US$180,000 BWF Swiss Open in Basel on Sunday.

The Thai world No.11 was beaten 16-21, 8-21 in 49 minutes by the seventh-ranked Indian in the women’s singles title match of the World Tour Super 300 event at St Jakobshalle in Basel.

Busanan, who was seeded fourth in Basel, received $6,480 (approximately 217,080 baht), while Sindhu, the second seed, got $13,500 (452,250 baht).

Sindhu had beaten another Thai hope Supanida Katethong in the semi-finals on Saturday. Busanan had defeated Kirsty Gimour of Scotland in the other last-four match.
