Advice on using credit cards to earn miles for free flights as an expat

Hello everyone,

I’m a Thai expat who has been living abroad for over 30 years, and I’ll be starting a new job with an international company in a few weeks. I’m interested in using credit cards to collect miles and earn a free flight, and I’ve been looking into options like Miles and More, Revolut, and Curve. However, since I’ll need to open a Thai bank account for my salary, I’m wondering if there are any better options out there that I’m not aware of.

I’d love to hear about your experiences with using credit cards to collect miles for free flights and any advice you might have for someone in my situation. Are there any particular credit cards or programs that you recommend? And what factors should I be considering when choosing a credit card for this purpose?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Edit:
I wanted to share a bit about my personal situation as well. I will be working in Thailand and have plans to visit my family in Europe at least once a year. Given this regular travel, I’m keen on finding strategies to accumulate miles for free flights.

In addition, I anticipate having significant monthly expenses, including rent, school fees, and transportation, totalling at least 100,000 baht. Since these are unavoidable costs, I’m particularly interested in exploring ways to earn miles through these expenditures.
