Why are there so many African guys just standing around on Sukhumvit Rd.?

When I walk from Sukhumvit Soi 39 to Soi 7 every night, I see about 60 African guys just standing around chilling and not doing anything on the street corners and by the subway entrances. They’re not walking around or shopping like every other tourist. They’re just hanging out and looking at people walking by. It’s kind of weird and unnerving.

What are they doing or what are they trying to sell? They seem pretty shady to me and I figure that they’re selling drugs or they are pimps for the African hookers on Sukhumvit.

Anybody know why there’s so many of them just standing around on Sukhumvit? No offense to anyone intended, I’m just wondering what they’re doing every night.
