Thai expats in Myanmar offered flights home to escape violence

Thailand’s embassy in Yangon is offering two repatriate Thai citizens from Myanmar amid rising violence that has seen security forces kill dozens of civilians protesting the military’s coup, including at least 38 on Wednesday alone.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon yesterday announced it would provide two relief flights for Thai nationals via Myanmar National Airlines starting next week. Thais who wish to return home must contact the embassy by today for a flight on March 12 and by March 11 for another on March 16. 

The embassy on Pyay Road in Dagon Township can be reached at (+95) 1-222-784 or (+95) 1-226-728 from 9:30am to 7pm every day or its 24-hour emergency number (+95) 9-797-002-801 or by email at [email protected].
