UK puts Thailand on travel ‘red’ list, quarantine required

Going home to ole Blighty will become more difficult Monday – and impossible for noncitizens.

That’s when Thailand will join the British government’s “red” list of no-travel nations due to the deepening COVID-19 crisis.

It means entry will only be allowed to British or Irish nationals who pass a pre-flight COVID test and book a quarantine hotel stay during which they will take two more tests.

That will make for at least seven COVID tests for thousands of Brits currently on Phuket for the sandbox program. Travelers from the United Kingdom were a close second to those from the states.

“Just as Covid cases have started falling the UK designates Thailand as red. What innumerate numpties!” reflected David Stanton in a Facebook group dedicated to discussing Phuket travel.
