Is this enough to live in Bangkok?

Hi everybody,

I’m currently deciding wether or not to accept an internship in Bangkok that’s paid 650€ (not great but I’m desperate). I have however saved up over 3000€ over the last 5 years of working at McDonald’s for this very occasion.

So that gives me a budget of approximately 1200€ a month for 5 months in Bangkok. I’ve been to Bangkok many times before, I have family in Thailand but nobody in Bangkok so I have an idea of what it’s like to get around but no clue what it costs.

How should I organize my budget? Keeping in mind, I really don’t mind sleeping in a hostel. I’m young and broke and it’s part of the experience and honestly, I don’t want to pass up the opportunity because this could shift my career for the better.

I know the standard is 30% goes to “rent” but considering I have free health insurance and free wifi, basically all I’d need to cover is hotel/hostel/rent and food and transport. If anything were to go wrong, my family would come help me.

Is 30% too much? Not enough? Help a girl out

Thanks !
