Thailand’s Kunlavut runs rings around Loh again

Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn defeated Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew again in the quarter-finals of the India Open yesterday.

The eighth seed Thai sealed a 21-12, 21-17 victory over the third-seeded opponent in the men’s singles contest in the Super 750 tournament in New Delhi.

The 21-year-old from Chon Buri also beat the 2021 world champion in the same round in Kuala Lumpur last week.

Kunlavut, who was runner-up at the 2022 world championships, now has a 4-1 head-to-head record against Loh.

The Thai will face sixth seed Anthony Ginting of Indonesia in the semi-finals today.

Ginting defeated China’s Li Shifeng 21-11, 17-21, 21-18 in the quarter-finals. He is chasing his first Super 750/1000 title since the 2018 China Open.
