The 103-year-old from Rayong has just returned from the 22nd Asian Masters Athletics Championships in Clark, Philippines, with no less than four gold medals after conquering all-comers in the 101-104 age group.
Born on May 8, 1919, Sawang has maintained a high level of fitness and health for more than a century, held back only by slight hearing problems as he powers into his 11th decade of life.
After retiring nearly 40 years ago from his job as a school director, Sawang embarked on a journey of physical fitness and serious competition.
His athletic pursuits span various competitions, including weight-throwing and sprinting, which have earned him medals at National Master Sports events in Buri Ram, Satun, and Phatthalung.
awang has also competed against top international seniors at the World Championships in China, Singapore, and Malaysia.
