Saudis gift Quran copies to Thailand amid thaw in ties

Following their arrival, the Saudi embassy in Thailand started to distribute the copies to Islamic centres authorised by the Thai government, Saudi acting ambassador Essam bin Salih said, according to Sabq news portal.

Last week, Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, and Thailand agreed to fully restore diplomatic ties between the two countries and to exchange ambassadors in the near future.

The move was agreed during a landmark official visit by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to Riyadh where he met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
