Premium Video Grows in Southeast Asia as Chinese Content Strikes a Chord in Thailand, Says Study

Premium video consumption in Southeast Asia grew at 6% quarter-on-quarter in the July to September period, roughly double the 3% expansion of the overall online video sector, says a new market report. Chinese content is beginning to make an impact.

“Southeast Asia Online Video Consumer Insights & Analytics,” from Media Partners Asia’s AMPD Research and measurement unit, shows video consumption of AVOD, SVOD, freemium and game streaming topping out at 1.25 trillion minutes in the period. MPA defines Southeast Asia as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines and Singapore.
