Mourning spot for Queen Elizabeth II erected outside Grand Palace

No Thai royals may have attended Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in London yesterday, but now the palace has arranged a place where people in Bangkok can pay their respects at an iconic landmark.

The public now can visit a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at the Grand Palace, exactly in front of the Mani Nopparat Gate on Na Phra Lan Road.

The installation will be in place through Sunday.

Visitors are asked to “dress politely” for the occasion.

While no members of Thailand’s royal family attended the ceremony, the government did send  Pisanu Suvanajata, ambassador to the United Kingdom, and his wife.
