Medical emergency on Central World skywalk today

Around 11.55am there was a medical emergency on the Central World Ratchaprasong skywalk. I was just about to go and eat lunch, when I see an older western gentleman laying unconscious on the skywalk just passed Groove. Quite some people were already tending to him, but because I recently had CPR training I went to see if I could help.

I asked if he was breathing and people told me yes. I wasn’t really sure about that though and checked myself. I could feel no pulse or breathing, so I offered to help with CPR. At that point someone arrived with a wheelchair, so instead they lifted him in and drove him to the police hospital which is across the road.

3 police officers were already on the scene as well and took care of what I think was the wife of the patient.

Still, I feel bad about this whole thing and I feel that I didn’t help enough. In such a situation you have like 10 minutes before chances on survival rapidly drop. I kind of excuse myself because I don’t speak Thai and felt oddly intimidated by the police presence. But that is a weak excuse.

Sorry for rambling. I just really hope this guy pulled through in the hospital.
