Man found dead beneath Khao Yai’s ‘Lonely Cliff’

The body of a man was found this afternoon and at the base of a cliff in the Khao Yai National Park in what the authorities suspect was an accidental fall.

The unidentified visitor’s body was discovered below the Pa Deo Die (“Lonely Cliff”), a popular park attraction located in Nakhon Nayok province. Park rangers checked the site after finding a motorbike had been left in the cliff’s parking lot for at least two days.

His cause of death is under investigation, according to national parks director Thanya Netithamkul, who said they believe he likely came to the cliff alone and fell accidentally. They have yet to identify the deceased. 

The cliff does not have any barriers, Thanya said, but after the review is completed may be added if the park’s board deems it necessary.
