Irreverent Thief Steals Money from Donation Boxes from Chonburi Temple

Chonburi —

A local abbot in Chonburi is calling for police to arrest an impious thief who broke into the temple and stole money from donation boxes last night, April 12th.

The thief was a man standing about 160 cm tall and aged 30 years old, according to the temple’s CCTV cameras. He wore a black shirt and shorts.

The incident took place last night at the Wat Pho temple in Chonburi. The man stealthily climbed over the temple’s wall and walked to a sermon hall where two donation boxes were located. He then used a screwdriver to pry open the boxes and stole the money inside before fleeing.

The unidentified abbot told local media that the money would normally be used to pay for the monks and novices’ educational expenses. It would also be used to cover the temple’s electricity and water bills.

Police suspected that the thief may reside near the temple because he seemed to know his way around the place. The officers are hunting for the suspect.
