200 CCTV Cameras Installed at Khaosan Road to Curb Songkran Misconduct

Bangkok Police have installed an additional 200 security cameras at Khaosan Road, one of the most crowded and popular Songkran sites in Bangkok, to prevent wrongdoings including dressing inappropiately.

Bangkok’s Chana Songkhram Police Station, which is responsible for securing the world-famous walking street, is ramping up surveillance to ensure compliance among people with four Songkran regulations: 1) No inappropriate clothing, 2) No nudity, 3) No powder, and 4) No high-pressure water guns.

To increase security, the officers have also installed additional 200 security cameras around Khaosan Road, acording to Pol. Col. Sanong Sangmanee, superintendent of the station. There are also three checkpoints and 300 police officers equipped with body cams stationed at the road to keep Songkran revelers safe.

Additionally, visitors are advised to plan their parking as it is very limited in the area as of press time.
