German films to play at KinoFest

After an all-online edition last year, KinoFest 2023 will take to cinemas this year, bringing close to 50 screenings of 13 movies to nine film venues in seven provinces across the country, starting tomorrow until Nov 5.

A joint production by eight Goethe-Instituts in Southeast Asia, the film festival is ahead of cinema releases in Asia and will present the latest German dramas, documentaries, comedies and thrillers. They explore the themes of migration, connection and interconnection, offering a nuanced and multifaceted view of Germany today.

The festival will open with Talking About The Weather, at Goethe-Institut Bangkok tomorrow at 7pm. Directed by Annika Pinske, the drama centres around a woman caught in contradictions on her quest for independence.
