A new budget airline has launched flights from Gatwick to Bangkok, Thailand with prices starting from just £340.
Scoot airlines, an offshoot of Singapore Air, relaunched the route for the summer season in March. I joined the inaugural flight to see for myself if sacrificing the frills of flying is worth it for the savings.
The airline is also the only airline offering a direct flight from Gatwick to Bangkok. A direct flight however does mean a 12 hour flight time (14 hours on the journey home), so 12 hours without the usual perks you’d expect on a long-haul flight.

Scoot is a low-cost, no-frills airline and needs preparation and forward planning to make it as pleasant as possible.
