Fun-haters order Thailand’s Gliding Monk to give up his electric trolley

A Buddhist monk out for morning alms rode an electric cart into the hearts of netizens, while the keepers of the faith rebuked his “inappropriate” behavior.

Sakdanai Woradetch, chief of the Ang Thong Provincial Office of Buddhism, said this morning he and his team ordered Wanchai Dhammatharo of Ang Thong City’s Wat Channimitr to refrain from again hopping onto his electric ride, an impressively modified trolley.

Sakdanai said cruising around on such a joyful conveyance with the wind on his scalp and a carefree heart was “imprudent” and “inappropriate” for a Buddhist monk.

Wanchai said he had been taking the e-scooter out for his morning alms for about two months, as his route spanned a full 6 kilometers, round-trip.
