On January 31st, 2024, the Thai Intellectual Property Crime Department of the Special Investigation (DSI) Bureau conducted searches on five commercial buildings storing more than 20,000 trademark-infringing products in Soi Phraya Monthat, Bang Bon, Bangkok.
According to a report by the DSI, there were various trademark-infringing types of products including waistbands, watches, handbags, and other accessories that were trademark infringement on famous brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Chanel, and other brands.
As a result, more than 20,000 trademark-infringing products were found, with an estimated market value of 50 million baht, according to DSI.
Upon DSI investigation, the commercial buildings were a large wholesaler located in Sampeng Market, in the heart of Bangkok. The trademark-infringing products were stored in five commercial buildings to conceal the items and avoid police detection.
Furthermore, the wholesaler sold the trademark-infringing products online and distributed them through private delivery services, said DSI.
The brand product representatives witnessed the DSI investigation and confirmed that the products were infringed, DSI then confiscated the properties in dispute for further legal processing with the owners.
