This is the shocking moment a rocket exploded in a failed launch during the Rocket Festival in Thailand. Video shows the unusual, disc-like rocket sending out thick smoke as it took off at a field in Udon Thani province on May 5. However, it soon exploded after hovering several feet off the ground, and sent debris towards the festival-goers. The Rocket Festival, also known as Bun Bang Fai, is practiced by Thais to mark the start of the monsoon rainy season. They believe that shooting rockets into the heavens will bring rain and abundant harvests in the coming months.
