Banteay Meanchey provincial authorities are working overtime to meet the demand for border passes from Cambodians wanting to cross the border to look for work in Thailand after Covid-19 prevented traffic between the two countries for nearly two years.
Since the government announced the opening of the border on May 1, crowds of people have applied for a border pass to cross into Thailand for work, medical treatment, business and tourism.
Governor Um Reatrey said he had instructed officials to assist people applying for a border pass, especially locals from Banteay Meanchey province, to enable them to travel to Thailand for work.
