In an effort to clarify meteorological terms for the general public, the Thai Meteorological Department has outlined the criteria used to classify cool, cold, and very cold weather. This comes as Thailand experiences a fresh influx of high-pressure or cold air mass from China, causing a significant dip in temperatures nationwide.

Interpreting Temperature Ranges

The department’s message, relayed to help citizens better understand weather forecasts, states that ‘cool’ weather ranges from 16.0 to 22.9 degrees Celsius. ‘Cold’ weather is marked by temperatures falling between 8.0 to 15.9 degrees Celsius, while ‘very cold’ weather is registered at 7.9 degrees Celsius and below.
