Bangkok Post – Rediscover extinct animals through opera

Little fans of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra will be delighted with a new opera and puppet performances during “The Story Of The Long-Gone Animals” concert, at Prince Mahidol Hall of Mahidol University, Salaya campus, on Saturday, at 4pm.

Held to celebrate Wan Dek, or Children’s Day, the concert is a collaboration with the Classical Voice and Musical Theatre Department of Mahidol University to present a newly-written opera for children The Story Of The Long-Gone Animals.

The story is about Dao Nua, a little girl who is so sick she must stay home and take medicine every day. She feels lonely and discouraged until one day, a strange thing happens: a Dodo bird appears and brings her to the land of extinct animals.

The audiences will be part of this vibrant and enchanting musical journey, including various kinds of puppet performances through the world of creatures…
