Bangkok Post – BRT extends free service until end of May

The BRT, Bangkok’s bus rapid transit system, has extended its free service until the end of May as it’s undergoing a renovation plan.

The free service was set to end on Nov 30 last year, but has been extended for another six months, bringing the expiry of free service to May 31. 

The 12-station Sathon-Ratchapruek route starts from Sathon station, which connects to BTS Chong Nonsi via a skywalk and traverses Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Road and Rama III Road, the latter of which runs along the bend of Chao Phraya River in Phra Nakhon. It terminates at Ratchapruek station, which connects to BTS Talat Phlu in Thon Buri. 

A new timetable for the 16.5km route came into effect on Dec 1, last year. The BRT runs from 6am-10pm. On weekdays, headways between buses are 10 minutes from 6-7am, seven minutes from 7-9am, 10 minutes from 9am-5pm, seven minutes from 5-8pm and 15…
