Accomodations in bangtao

I’m currently planning a 3-month trip to Phuket in September to train Muay Thai. I’m in contact with a Muay Thai gym, but the accommodations they had sent me seem to be mostly inland a bit. Looking in the Bangtao area, close to the beach. Open to ideas, but prefer a private room as opposed to shared or hostel. What is the best way to look for housing on the internet? Should I wait until I arrive, rent a hotel for a week while I look for something in person? I’d prefer to get something set up in advance, but I’m feeling like in person might be the best way to get a good deal. Any advice or recommendations are welcome! TIA!
