15 people on a fishing trip rescued from capsized boat off Koh Kut

Fifteen passengers and crew from a boat engaged in a fishing trip, about 16 miles from Koh Kut in the Gulf of Thailand, were safely rescued after their vessel capsized and sank today.

Two speed boats from the Koh Kut Tambon Administrative Organisation and another fishing boat rushed to their rescue, off Trat province, after they received a distress call for from the stricken vessel, called “Net Waree”.

An official from the emergency services said that it was fortunate that all the 15 people on board the ill-fated vessel had worn life preservers. All were found floating in the sea, when the rescue team arrived at about 6pm, and they safely pulled them aboard a fishing boat.
