Bangkok Post – An, Tai to lock horns for first title of the year

Kuala Lumpur: An Se-Young and Tai Tzu-ying will battle it out for the women’s singles title at the season-opening BWF Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur today.

World No.1 and top seed An of South Korea defeated China’s Zhang Yiman 21-17, 21-11 while fourth-seeded Tai of Taiwan overcame China’s second seed Chen Yufei 17-21, 21-15, 21-18 in the semi-finals of the US$1.3 million World Tour Super 1000 event at Axiata Arena.

An has come off a stunning 2023 season during which she won eight World Tour titles and the world crown. The 21-year-old will be looking to go one better this time in the KL tournament after losing to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in the title match last year.
