Why does every other post on this sub have 0 upvotes?

I just scrolled down through this sub and more than half of all posts have 0 upvotes.

As far as I can see none of these posts are offensive in any way nor do they break the rules of the sub.

What would be someones motivation to downvote a random post without providing any comment?
