Violent Clash Among Pattaya Youth Gangs Leaves Man With Finger Severed

Pattaya —

A chaotic clash between two youth gangs erupted at a Pattaya skatepark near Laem Bali Hai early this morning, October 8th. The incident resulted in one teenager having his finger severed and injuries to two others.

The incident, which took place at 4 AM, caused unsuspecting tourists who were hanging out near a skatepark at Bali Hai Pier, Pattaya, to flee in panic.

Pattaya Police and emergency responders were called to the scene to arrest the teenagers involved but they had already escaped. However, authorities found at least three young teens who had been injured in the incident. Their names were withheld due to their ages.

According to emergency responders, the first teenager sustained minor injuries to his left arm presumably from a knife attack. The second victim suffered cuts on his head and arms. Lastly, the third victim had a knife wound to his back and his right hand, resulting in the loss of his index finger.

Emergency responders provided medical assistance before transferring the three injured teens to Pattaya Hospital. Pattaya Police collected from the scene as evidence three black motorbike helmets and a knife wrapped in black tape, which were assumed to be used by the youth gangs.

Eyewitnesses frightened by the incident reported seeing the victims’ group arriving at the skatepark in a sedan. They were armed with chopping knives as they marched to confront another group consisting of at least 10 males. They then shouted and demanded to know who had harmed their friend. In a matter of seconds, both groups engaged in a chaotic scuffle with knives before eventually dispersing and fleeing the scene, leaving the three injured individuals at the park.

Pattaya Police questioned the injured victims about the motivation of the incident. They claimed that they had a previous unfinished altercation with the suspects and had arranged to meet at the park to sort it out.

The police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects. It was reported that Pattaya City has erected signs prohibiting access to the skatepark in question from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. However, there are still groups of teenagers clandestinely entering the premises, leading to multiple violent incidents.

In another attempt to deter teen conflicts, Pattaya Police are telling minors under the age of 18 to go home if unaccompanied by a legal guardian or parent while hanging out on beaches at night.

This incident is likely to see stricter closing policies put into place for the skatepark which has been the scene of multiple confrontations and could lead to further calls by some critics for a citywide teen curfew at night.
