Vets remove harpoon from Korat dog’s head

A stray dog was recovering Thursday morning after being shot through the head with a harpoon gun.

The dog seemed likely to survive the horrific wound after the Bungtalua Animal Hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima successfully removed the harpoon injury that seemed to be a heartbreaking act of cruelty.

“Today, doctors have fed him, healed his wounds, given saline solution, painkillers and antibiotics. Overall, his symptoms improved, but he remains frightened,” the hospital wrote online along with a short video of the good boy post-surgery.

It did not mention if anyone had been arrested for harming the animal. The culprit could face up to two years in prison and a fine of THB40,000.

On Wednesday morning, the hospital had posted a picture of the dog’s head fully impaled by the harpoon.
