Vegetarian Festival: What to eat and where to go

The annual Vegetarian Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Thailand. Also known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival or Jay Festival, the celebration takes place on the 9th lunar month of the Chinese calendar. And this year, it falls on 15 – 24 October. During the festival, those who celebrate will observe a strict vegetarian diet. They also organise a street procession, and, for the chosen few, practice self-mutilation.
