A gunman who opened fire on a traveling bus in Phuket and injured two people has been found dead on the bus and was a former soldier who suffered from mental problems.

The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express that Phuket Governor Naroong Woonciew also went to the scene this morning. The two injured passengers were identified only as Ms. Juraiphon, 49, and Napanat, 26. They are now safe at a local hospital.
The shooter was named by police as Mr. Nawin Chuaykleang, 25, from Ao Luek, Krabi. He was a psychiatric patient at the Ao Luek Hospital. He was one of the passengers on the bus. It was unclear how or when he left the hospital.
The Phuket City Police contacted the Ao Luek Police and they took Nawin’s grandmother, 67, and his mother, 50, from Ao Luek, Krabi to the scene to talk with Nawin as police thought that the shooter was still alive during the incident.
His mother told police that Nawin is a former soldier who has suffered mental health problems for which he refused to take medicine. He wrote a letter before he left the house saying ‘Don’t worry. I am going to have a new life and am taking some risks. I am not coming back home.’
The Forensic Police told the Phuket Express that the shooter shot himself just after he shot the others because the blood stains on the bus floor near his body had dried.
