Unusual disciplines at Cambodia event

Phnom Penh: Southeast Asian athletes will vie for dominance in more than 30 sports at the 32nd SEA Games, which officially open today and end on May 17, in everything from athletics and football to jet ski and obstacle race.

The SEA Games has a flexible programme which includes sports in the hosts’ favour and also allows for regional and newer disciplines.

Here are some unusual sports at these Games:

Kun Khmer

Thai fans and officials are still upset that the hosts included Kun Khmer or Pradal Serey, a combat sport, in the programme and axed Thailand’s martial art of Muay Thai. It consists of four types…
