Umbrellas up: Bangkok braces for wet weather marathon

A large monsoon pounding Myanmar’s Andaman coast will continue to pelt Bangkok and most of Thailand with rain for the foreseeable future, state meteorologists forecast.

A day after Bangkok was hit with heavy rainfall, more wet is expected across much of the metro area today, followed by a flood-prone Friday, a super saturated Saturday, and soggy Sunday with rain over most of the capital for the next 10 days. 

Wednesday’s watery blitz buried parts of the capital area in over 25 millimeters of water in six hours, with Phra Khanong seeing the most at 36.5 millimeters.

Lows are forecast to hit 26C for the next week with highs hovering between 31C and 32C.
