turnaround time and quality of work for Apple battery replacement at BKK apple store

Hey all,

I’m in Krabi right now on an extended holiday and my Macbook has a swollen battery. Of course this only happens to me when I’m like 1000km from an Apple store. Only one in TH is in Bangkok, the small repair shops around here don’t have oem parts, just copy parts and I don’t know how much to trust them, if they fuck up my laptop they will surely just be “mai pen rai” and I’ll be fucked.

Apple however, won’t give me like any information on turn around times, costs or even if they have parts in stock to do the repair, they want me to change my whole holiday just to fly down there so they can “check it out’. I won’t be back home for a few months though so I can’t wait until then either.

Has anyone had any recent experience with getting a battery replacement on a Macbook at the BKK apple store and how was the turn around time/ costs etc? I realize it varies per laptop but just to get an idea if it’s even worth considering the hassle of going down there. Thanks for any info!
