Traffic Jam?

We’re on vacation in bangkok. We went out to get dinner last night around wireless road and passed lumphini park. Grab and google maps showed a 20-30min travel time but we were surprised it took us way more than that.

2 hours in and we were just halfway? The traffic lights went green more than 8 times and no car moved. At one point it’s been 30min and we haven’t moved an inch.

Is this a normal friday night occurence? Or was there a special event/road blockage? Should we expect this during weekend nights also?
