Three Thais were arrested at Myanmar embassy coup protest

Three young Thai men were arrested during a protest rally against the military coup in Myanmar, outside the Myanmar embassy, on Monday, Bangkok police said.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau on Tuesday identified them as Wichapat Srikasipan, 21, Pannapat Chantanangkul, 20, and Kiatisak Panrenu, 20.

The announcement said they were detained after police tried to end the rally, and  demonstrators had thrown objects and assaulted police.

The three were charged with organising a crowd gathering that posed risk of disorder and disease transmission, in violation of the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations imposed to control Covid-19.
