This expat couple will run 42K to raise funds for vegan venues

Bangkok’s plant-based scene was just coming into its own and now venues are facing tough odds of survival. Now two plant-based power evangelists are stepping up – and forward – to help them out.

Later this month, Max Hellier and Joanna Hellier, the folks behind plant-based blog and sustainability platform Root the Future, are organizing Running for Restaurants, a marathon to raise funds for Bangkok’s growing number of veg restaurants. 

Max and Joanna are asking people to sponsor their 42-kilometer run, performed after just two weeks of training, which should make for quite a challenge.

All proceeds will go to a total of 23 plant-based venues to help them pay staff, utilities, rent, and any other costs they’re incurring because of the lockdown.
