Theft in Krabi: Even Roofs are not safe!

I have heard about many things being stolen in my life but never have I heard of entire roofs being stolen. Yet, exactly this has happened to us!

On my wife’s, currently paused, construction site in Chong Pli, Ao Nang, thieves stole not only a 40ft HC storage container, a container office as well as electric cabling and pumbs but also two entire roofs!

The police is obviously involved and 1 storage container and many parts of the roofs have already been found, yet many parts of the story remain unclear.

Walls and spans were broken / damaged during the theft of one of the roofs. What remains of them will probably have to be removed and rebuilt before we can add the roof again.

The entire damage is currently estimated at 2 million baht. We are hoping the police can identify all criminals involved and bring justice.

If you’re currently building in Krabi don’t leave your construction site unmonitored for even a few days.

According to witnesses an entire crew entered the land along with even a crane and did all of this within just a couple of days, brazingly during day time!
