The staff at the Thai embassy wrote incorrect visa information on my passport – what’re your suggestions?

I travelled here from a very far country with the elite visa. When I was entering the custom, the officials discovered that one of the pieces of information on my passport was incorrectly written by the staff at the Thai embassy to me country. Even though they let me in, I could’t smoothly take care of things like applying for a driver license or opening a bank account, because I don’t want to do those with the wrong information on my passport.

The Elite Visa company suggested me to go back to my home country to fix this after my travel. THe problem is that I don’t want to go back soon and the travel expense is extremely high for me to go back. Though their email was very polite, I can feel that they don’t have a strong motivation to help me solve the problem.

What’re your suggestions? Is there any possible that I can claim some compensation?
