Thailand’s Songkran Festival Attains UNESCO Cultural Heritage Status

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recently bestowed the honour of Intangible Cultural Heritage upon Thailand’s Songkran, a vibrant festival marking the commencement of the traditional Thai New Year.

Earlier this month, UNESCO similarly recognised Garba, the traditional dance form of Gujarat, India, as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
