The release of two further Thai hostages held by Hamas in Gaza on Wednesday was welcomed by Thai Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara. These captives were the most recent to be released as a result of a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The deputy prime minister, Parnpree, wrote on social media platform X, “Happy to personally welcome 2 additional Thai hostages who just released and arrived at the hospital in Tel Aviv.”

“A totally warm feeling to see how the former 17 were lining up to welcome and give moral support to the two newcomers,” he stated.

Thirteen Thai hostages are reportedly still being held captive, but 19 have since been freed, according to the foreign ministry. 39 Thai people lost their lives in the Hamas attack on October 7.

Speaking with Hamas directly, a Muslim organisation in Thailand stated on Monday that its work was essential to guaranteeing that Thai hostages were among the first to be freed. Many performers were consulted, according to a spokesman for Thailand’s foreign ministry.

One of the biggest migrant worker groups in Israel prior to the Israel-Hamas conflict consisted of approximately 30,000 Thai labourers who worked in the agricultural industry.

Approximately nine thousand have been sent back home, the government claims.

It is planned for the freed Thai people to return home during Parnpree’s visit to Israel this week.
