Thailand weather: Bracing for thunderstorms and a 5 degree drop

Thailand Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a warning for thunderstorms and strong gusts today, followed by a temperature drop of 2 to 5 degrees Celsius. The southern region is forecasted to experience heavy rainfall. The public is advised to avoid open spaces at 5am today, followed by the changes in Thailand weather.

A high-pressure system or cold air mass is currently covering northern Vietnam, northern Laos, and the South China Sea and is expected to spread over northern Thailand tonight. This will cause thunderstorms and strong gusts initially in Northern Thailand, followed by a drop in temperature.

The weather will be cool to cold with strong winds. The Northeast will see temperatures drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, while the north, central region including Bangkok and vicinities, and the east will experience a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
