Thailand to Launch Standard Form for Capital Market Access

From 1 July, all intermediaries will use a standard form for account opening, providing investors easier access to stocks, debt instruments, mutual funds and derivatives.

Thailand’s SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) has announced the development of a standard form that will be used for all capital market account opening from 1 July 2021.

The standard form aims to avoid having investors repeatedly provide duplicate information each time they open a new account, thereby providing convenience to investors and enabling faster account opening.

The form has been in development since September 2019, with input from capital market stakeholders, including industry bodies such as the ASCO (Association of Securities Companies), AIMC (Association of Investment Management Companies) and TBA (Thai Bankers’ Association, among others.
