Thailand Greenlights Incentives for Companies Shifting to Electric Vehicles

Thailand has greenlit incentives to encourage companies to transition their commercial fleets of large trucks and buses to battery electric vehicles (EVs), announced the government on Wednesday.

The measures also include cash grants for EV battery cell manufacturers, aimed at solidifying Thailand’s position as an EV manufacturing hub.

According to the government, these policies are expected to significantly boost the adoption of electric trucks and buses, curbing pollution from the transportation and manufacturing sectors, while supporting companies’ efforts to achieve their net-zero targets.

Companies eligible for the support will benefit from special tax deductions, effective until December 2025. Those purchasing domestically manufactured vehicles can deduct expenses equivalent to twice the actual price, without any price ceiling. Meanwhile, for imported vehicles, the deduction will…
